About Live12 DB

Founded 2019 · Distributed team

Live12 DB builds reference data infrastructure for developers. We take the slow-changing, everywhere-needed datasets — timezones, country metadata, currencies, calendars — and serve them from regional edge endpoints so reads stay fast and predictable no matter where your users are.

Our mission

Make reference data boring, in the best way: fast, predictable, and the same from every region. Developers should be able to look up a country code or the current time in a timezone without thinking about latency, schema drift, or which datacenter answered.

How we started

The project began in 2019 out of a recurring frustration: every application re-implements the same lookups against inconsistent sources. We set out to consolidate that data behind one stable, versioned API and replicate it close to where requests originate. What started as an internal tool grew into a platform serving billions of requests a month.

How we work

We are a small, fully distributed team spread across several time zones. That shapes the product: we care about clear documentation, stable schemas, and operational transparency, because we rely on the same things ourselves. Breaking changes ship under new versioned paths, never silently in place.

What we value

  • Predictability. The same request returns the same shape from every edge node.
  • Transparency. A public status page, request IDs on every response, and an open OpenAPI spec.
  • Simplicity. Plain HTTPS and JSON, one Bearer token, no SDK required.
